The Society has always had an interest in amenities and the environment, which was strengthened by a merger with the Village Society in 1976.

We are concerned with developments and conditions in the Parish of Ruddington, with special concern for the Central Conservation Area of the village, nature reserves and Sites of Interest to Nature Conservation (SINC's).

All planning applications are noted and, where appropriate, comments or objections are submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council which represents the Planning Authority. In taking these actions we attempt to represent a 'community' view rather than the interests of particular individuals.

It is recognised that there must be changes but these should be consistent with the general character of a particular area, and the village as a whole. We are not merely reactive, with positive recommendations being made from time to time.
